Deciphering Your COVID-19 Online Church Attendance

Your online attendance trend line the past 10 weeks most likely looks something like this…

You've had two injections of an abnormal amount of activity for the past ten weeks.

First, the world-changing online-only COVID-19 moment occurred. Everyone was eagerly waiting to see how your church was going to respond. So they logged on.

Second, Easter weekend popped up on the calendar when everyone else is most open to check out their local church. Many more tuned in this Easter because their worlds came crashing down. When your life is under tension, you're the most open to hearing the Gospel. The uncertainty of the future tends to makes you realize how little of life is actually in your control, and the truth of our Creator comes into perspective. I had a neighbor that had never attended a church check out our online Easter service with his family. Previous attempts were void, but something changed this time. `

We all had these two huge boosts in viewerships. Don't get wrapped up in being down post-Easter. Focus on how much you've gained since pre-COVID and start planning how to handle the next surge. Your new normal is the average of your attendance for the past two weeks.

Now, start building what's going to happen post-COVID!
