02: The Internet Isn’t All Online

In my new YouTube series, I'm covering all things digital for your ministry. My first video "01: Digital Ministry, Culture, & Your Church" set the stage for how to think about digital. This video is going to cover the importance of in-person ministry while shaping your digital ministry.

I cover the following things in 02: The Internet Isn’t All Online:

A. Internet relies on physical servers

- Cup of cold water (Matt 10:42)

- Future will be familiar (like heaven)

B. Universal and local church

- Visuals of the church? Family, body, & marriage

- Matthew 16:18

- 1st Corinthians 12:12-13

- Letters to the churches in Revelation

C. Closing thoughts

- Online to offline is possible if you spend the effort connecting the pieces.

- New things introduce new language. Embrace the new thing and don't try to fit into old wineskin & forget the old things.

- Be wise (James 3:17)

- Understand what you are enabling as a leader of the church (James 3:1)

- Whatever you’re trying to do digitally needs to rely on a physical paradigm. You can’t have one without the other. The chicken comes first, which is your local church. Second, the egg comes about, which is the online strategy.

- Honest Conversation about VR Church with DJ Soto

- The internet by the way is this strange resource that allows us to reach the entire world without leaving our house, but this resource needs to be used wisely. The internet is a tremendous tool, but it can’t be disconnected from our calling as followers of Jesus.
