Hidden Digital Is the Best Digital

I watched this video about The Hidden VFX in Live Sports. I thought it was a great teaching for churches around digital and technology.

My Quick Thoughts:

1. Best digital integrations fix a real problem like the 1st down line or game clock addressed issues with following along with the game. Adding the yellow line in NFL games and the shot clocked in the NBA allowed more people to stay engaged with the broadcast. It was helpful tech, but you'll notice in the video that TV executives thought it might hurt their games. Sounds familiar to how church leadership think sometimes.

2. Some digital integrations can be distracting and sometimes pointless, like showing too many random stats during sports broadcasts. What actually is helpful to add? It can't just a be cool, but add real value to what you're trying to do.

3. Figuring out the best digital integrations takes tons of experiments and you have to iterate on ideas to figure out. It was crazy to think how much tech it took in 3D rendering just adding the yellow line in NFL games. All that tech and years allowed for more integrations years/decades later. It may not make sense now, but through many swings, things start to actually make sense.

Don't think of a touchdown type of digital integration. What is the hidden thing that just makes sense to what you're trying to do as a church?
